Huh?

I found this article a particularly strange choice. Will it catch on to other towns that are know to produce a particular knick nack or service? Some ideas to concider;

Xi'an should be renamed Mei You Bing Ma Yong Shi (lit. Not have Terra Cotta Warriors City) as the terra cotta warriors are located nearly an hours drive from the city.

Yangshuo, the tourist mecca located near Guilin should concider Tai Duo Laowai Shi (lit. Holy Crud, there are a ton of foreigners City) as walking the streets of this little hamlet will bring you into contact with foreigners from all over the world and very few chinese themselves.

Shaoxing should be renamed Xiaoxing so its easier to pronounce.

Suzhou might concider Shuilu Shi (lit. Water Street City) as a nod to the numerous references that describe Suzhou as the "Venice of the East" becuase of the "canals" criss crossing the city, although the word "smelly" or "not what I expected" should also be included.

Nanjing was an ancient capital of China way back, during, uh....some emperors reign....exact info not coming to me now but you can look it up...anyhow, Nanjing could attract more tourists, especially males, if it renamed itself NuRenShi (lit. City of Ladies) to all the foxy fashionable honies walking around although Shanghai could also claim this new title but I do believe that Shanghai could be renamed Shou Biao! Qian Bao! DVD! (lit. Watch! Bag! DVD!). Steven and Kevin know exactly what I am talking about. Yeah.

Suzhou Style Capitalism

Venkatesh didn't have to go to the South Side of Chicago to witness Getto Capitalism. All I have to do to witness the accounts that he mentioned is look out my window. Call it Suzhou Style Capitalism, with a twist or nipple tweek.

Suzhou weather

If your like me and you hate to plan your weekend according to what the weather looks like on tuesday, my colleague at peoplesrepublicofBLOG informed me of a kick ass weather website for Suzhou. While is may not be your fathers Farmer Almanac, it does the job well. However, the website is cluttered and full of additional links, logos, graphics and such that it gives the site a terrible visual appearance. Much like looking in the mirror for some people from Virgina.
